Delhi Liquor Policy Case:  The Enforcement Directorate on Friday filed a ninth charge sheet in the Delhi excise policy scam case, naming Vinod Chauhan as the latest accused, officials said. Chauhan was arrested in May this year after his involvement in the case surfaced. He has been accused of swindling the money across the other perpetrators. Now scrapped, Delhi's 2021-22 new liquor policy was marred with accusations of scams, following which Delhi LG had constituted a CBI probe, which was later joined by the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The fresh prosecution complaint (charge sheet) was filed before the special PMLA court in Delhi naming Vinod Chauhan as an accused. Notably, the ED had named Delhi's Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal as the key accused and 'kingpin' in the scam.

"Statement of one of the staff members of K Kavitha revealed that he collected two heavy bags containing cash from accused Dinesh Arora's office on Abhishek Boinpally's directions and delivered it to Vinod Chauhan," the ED charge sheet stated.

Vinod Chauhan's arrest in the liquor policy case has increased the tally of arrests to 18. Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, former Deputy Chief Minister Sisodia, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Singh, BRS leader and former Telangana CM K Chandrashekar Rao's daughter K Kavitha and several liquor businessmen and others.

Earlier, the Rouse Avenue court extended the judicial custody of Chauhan to July 3. He attended the court proceedings through video conferencing from the Tihar Jail, reported Business Today.

Delhi CM Sent To CBI Custody

Earlier, a Delhi court sent CM Kejriwal to a three-day CBI custody. He was investigated by the probe agency in Tihar Jail, where he remained lodged.

The court ruled that Arvind Kejriwal's wife is permitted to visit him every day for 30 minutes, and his lawyer can also meet with him daily for 30 minutes. Additionally, the court has granted permission for them to bring his prescribed medicines and home-cooked food during the remand period.
