Delhi Fire: CCTV Footage Shows Masked Woman Setting Tughlakabad Parking Lot Ablaze That Kills Three

Jagran Correspondent, New Delhi: A shocking twist has emerged in the investigation of the fire that broke out in a parking lot in Lane No. 1 of Delhi's Tughlakabad Extension. CCTV footage shows a masked woman setting the parking area on fire.

According to a report by Jagran.com, the entire incident was captured on CCTV cameras, and a detailed investigation is currently underway.

Caught On Camera

According to the footage, the masked woman entered the premises at 2:23 AM. Moments later, massive flames erupted, and the masked woman was seen fleeing the scene.

What Did The Preliminary Investigation Reveal?

According to the preliminary investigation, the fire was reportedly triggered by an electrical short circuit on the ground floor, where an electric scooter was charging. The flames rapidly spread, engulfing seven two-wheelers, including the e-scooter.

Due to the bursting of fuel tanks and burning of vehicle parts, the entire area was instantly filled with thick smoke, leaving residents on upper floors with little to no time to escape.

Five Under Treatment, Three Declared Dead

Acting swiftly, police and fire brigade teams rescued eight individuals from the building and rushed them to Safdarjung Hospital and the AIIMS Trauma Centre. However, doctors declared three of them dead upon arrival.

Officials stated that the incident appears to stem from a short circuit while the e-scooter was charging. However, the exact cause will only be known after a detailed forensic and legal investigation. Police have registered a case and initiated further investigation.

A Big Warning For Residential Areas

This incident has once again raised serious questions about safety arrangements in residential areas of Delhi, such as Hauz Rani, Tughlakabad, and Govindpuri. In these localities, multi-storey buildings are often constructed by violating building codes, lacking both proper ventilation and safe parking spaces for vehicles.

Tangled power lines in narrow streets and fires in parked vehicles have increasingly become severe hazards for residents. This follows a recent incident on June 3, where a fire at a hotel in Hauz Rani claimed the lives of 23 people.
