Delhi-Gurugram And Dwarka Expressway: The work of developing the Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) on Dwarka Expressway and Delhi-Gurugram Expressway has been completed. The system is functional but at present, much emphasis is not being given on issuing challans. The traffic police will make people aware about the system during the next 15 days, jagran.com reported.

The control room has been built on the Dwarka Expressway. As soon as the traffic rules are violated, the information will reach the control room. All activities on both the expressways will also be monitored through the system. Delhi-Gurugram Expressway and Dwarka Expressway are connected to each other like a ringman system.

Big Relief From Traffic Jam

The Dwarka Expressway is connected to the Delhi-Gurugram Expressway near Mahipalpur in Delhi and Kherki Daula Toll Plaza in Gurugram. Both of them together form a circle of 60 kilometres. 150 ultra-modern cameras have been installed in 60 kilometres.

Cameras Will Monitor Activity

Some Artificial Intelligence (AI) based cameras have also been installed which will automatically issue challan if the traffic rules are violated. The entire activities of both the expressways will be monitored through other cameras.

The benefit of this will be that as soon as an accident occurs anywhere, the information will reach the traffic police. If there is a traffic jam anywhere, the traffic can be diverted with immediate effect. Not only this, if the criminals leave the expressway after committing the crime, it will be easy to identify them.

The cameras have been installed by Indian Highway Management Company Limited, which is related to National Highway Authority of India. An official of the company says that this is such a good system that everything that is happening on both the expressways will be known. There will be 100 per cent surveillance on both the expressways. After developing ATMS, it was tested. The system has been completely successful in testing. The system has also been tested sitting in the control room set up on the Gurugram-Delhi border. No deficiency has been found at any level from anywhere.

Sector-40 resident engineer Rajesh Narayan says that a very good system has been developed. This will curb accidents. Most of the accident victims are two-wheeler drivers.

Due to fear of getting challaned, they will use the service lane instead of the expressway. This will reduce accidents. The service lane of Dwarka Expressway is better, but not the service lane of Delhi-Gurugram Expressway. Emphasis should be laid on improving this too.

"The advanced traffic management system has been started, but people will be made aware for the next 15 days. It is necessary to make people aware of the system once. After 15 days, online challan will be issued for violating traffic rules," said Satyapal, Assistant Commissioner of Police, Traffic Highway, as quoted by jagran.com.
