A 48-year-old man was arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting and torturing an 11-year-old boy for over two months in central Delhi’s Karol Bagh, police said on Monday. An official said that the accused used to take the boy to an abandoned clinic where he would sexually assault him, beat him with a leather belt and singe him with cigarette butts. The accused was the neighbour of the victim, he added.

The crime came to light on December 26 when the boy’s family members noticed him bleeding from his private parts and admitted him to a hospital. The family members of the boy asked him about the bleeding but the child was fearful and did not reveal the ordeal.

When the bleeding did not stop, the family members admitted him to a private hospital in central Delhi on December 30. After much persuasion, the child broke down and told his family members that he had been sodomised and tortured by the accused since November, the official said.
