Delhi-Meerut Expressway Toll Hike: Travelling on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway will become more expensive starting April 1st. Toll rates will increase by five per cent. Currently, the toll rate for cars and jeeps from Kashi Toll to Sarai Kale Khan is Rs 170. Starting April 1, it will be Rs 175, jagran.com reported. The annual Fastag pass will also increase from Rs 3000 to Rs 3075. The increased rates will be applicable from 12 midnight on March 31.

Citing a letter from National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) Project Director Arvind Kumar, Kashi Toll Manager Sunil said that a five per cent increase in toll rates is proposed. The new rates will be made public on the night of March 31. The current toll rate for cars and jeeps from Kashi Toll to Sarai Kale Khan on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway is Rs 170.

The one-way toll for commercial vehicles to Meerut is Rs 275. Bus and truck tolls are Rs 580. These rates will be Rs 175, Rs 280, and Rs 590, respectively.

Kashi Toll Plaza To Be Completely Cashless From April 1

Kashi Toll Plaza will become completely cashless from April 1. Vehicle owners will be required to pay toll tax with their FASTag active, or through UPI using a barcode at the toll booth. Drivers will be required to have an Android mobile phone for this purpose. Cash or other payments will not be possible.

The new system on the Meerut Expressway will utilise high-speed cameras and an automatic number plate recognition system. The cameras will scan the vehicle's number plate and Fastag and automatically deduct the payment. This will not only save time but also reduce traffic congestion and fuel consumption.

To modernise traffic management on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway, upgraded traffic posts, new high-tech cameras, and vehicle speed detection systems are being installed between the Kashi Toll Plaza and Dasna as part of the ATMS refurbishment project.

A CCTV camera has been installed every 500 metres. A control room has been established at the Kashi Toll Plaza. Electric poles equipped with solar panels and LED lights are being installed every 20 metres between the dividers. This will illuminate the entire Delhi-Meerut Expressway with floodlights at night. The traffic post to be established at the Kashi Toll Plaza will be staffed with traffic police and nursing staff.
