Delhi Metro Update: With the launch of 82 km Namo Bharat Rapid Rail Transit System (RRTS) corridor connecting Delhi, Ghaziabad, and Meerut, and the 12.3 km Majlis Park-Maujpur metro extension on the Pink Line, Delhi-NCR will witness a major boost in connectivity. The projects are expected to be inaugurated around September 17, 2025.

At present, the 55 km stretch of Namo Bharat corridor from New Ashok Nagar to Meerut South is functional. It consists of 11 stations.

Trial runs on the final stretch have been completed. Once the entire corridor is up and running, travel time between Sarai Kale Khan in Delhi and Modipuram in Meerut will be just 58 minutes. According to a Times of India report, trains currently run every 15 minutes, but frequency will improve to every 10 minutes once the corridor is fully operational.

Anand Vihar and New Ashok Nagar are operational in Delhi. Sarai Kale Khan will connect Pink Line metro, Hazrat Nizamuddin railway station, Veer Haqeeqat Rai ISBT, and city bus services.

The 12.318 km long corridor once completed will have eight metro stations. This corridor is an extension project of the current Pink Line. Currently, the metro is operating from Shiv Vihar to Majlis Park, covering 38 stations on the Pink Line.

A standout feature of this extension is the bridge over the Yamuna, along with Delhi’s first-ever 1.4 km double-decker viaduct between Bhajanpura and Yamuna Vihar. The metro will run on the upper deck, while road traffic will move on the lower level. All eight new stations on the route: Burari, Jharoda Majra, Jagatpur Village, Soorghat, Sonia Vihar, Khajuri Khas, Bhajanpura, and Yamuna Vihar, are elevated.
