The rape and murder of a 22-year-old daughter of an IRS officer in Amar Colony, South-East Delhi, has sent shockwaves through the area. The incident came to light on Wednesday and former domestic help Rahul Meena has been named as accused. Following preliminary investigations, the police stated that the victim was murdered after being raped.
Who Is Accused?
According to Jagran.com, citing police sources, the accused had earlier been involved in a similar rape case in Rajasthan along with two other men. Meena was dismissed from his job approximately a month and a half ago after being accused of misappropriating funds by inflating the prices of household supplies he purchased.
IRS Officer’S Daughter Found Dead
The IRS officer and his wife had gone to the gym on Wednesday morning. When the couple returned home, they discovered their daughter was dead. Reports suggest that the accused killed the woman by strangling her with a mobile phone charger cable. She was an engineering graduate and was preparing for the UPSC examinations.

Upon receiving information, the police arrived at the scene and took custody of the body. A formal investigation into the case was immediately initiated and CCTV footage from the surrounding area was reviewed. The clip showed Meena loitering near the house's parking area, cementing the suspicion of his alleged involvement in the case.
Police Launch Manhunt
According to police, Rahul may have committed the murder with meticulous planning. Details like the timing of the incident and the choice of target, suggest that the crime may have been committed by someone known to her. The incident took place between 6:30 am and 7:30 am. Police believe that Meena was aware that the couple usually leaves for the gym at 6:30 am. Also, since several other domestic helpers arrive later in the day, the morning hours were chosen to ensure that no one else was present in the house.
After running a background check, police have launched raids across the city to nab the accused.
