The air quality index (AQI) in the national capital Delhi has surged beyond 300 in multiple areas, classifying the air as "very poor." Burari recorded an AQI of 400, Bawana 376, Alipur 387, Jahangirpuri 389, and Narela 393. Other locations included Patparganj at 342, Punjabi Bagh 353, Shadipur 335, Sonia Vihar 371, and Wazirpur 390.

Meanwhile, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi shared a video in which he is seen discussing pollution with an environmentalist near India Gate.

In the video, he stated that he is experiencing breathing difficulties, his eyes are burning, and the situation was horrific last week. He mentioned considering sending his mother, Sonia Gandhi, out of Delhi.

Rahul Gandhi Hits Out At Government

Rahul Gandhi targeted the central and Delhi BJP governments, saying that the air is turning poisonous year after year, but the governments only change excuses. Now that they are in power in both places, excuses won't do—people need clean air. He questioned whether only stubble burning and vehicles are responsible for the pollution.

Supreme Court Reprimands Officials

In a related development, the Supreme Court held a hearing today on the worsening air pollution in Delhi. The court sought a report from officials on non-functional air monitoring stations. It was informed that most air quality monitoring stations are not operational. The court questioned how the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) can be effectively implemented in the absence of critical data.
