In a tragic incident, a two-story building collapsed near Holi Chowk, Azad Dairy in Delhi's Uttam Nagar on Friday afternoon, causing panic in the neighbouring area. A woman died while her daughter was receiving treatment at a hospital.

The locals present on the site rushed to rescue and alerted the police and fire department about the incident. The firefighters, police, the team of National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), and other relief agencies arrived at the site shortly and initiated a search and rescue operation.

The operation started with clearing the debris. Shortly after, rescuers pulled a 12-year-old girl named, Navya, and a woman named, Poonam, from the rubble, who were rushed to a nearby hospital.

According to a fire department official, the girl suffered minor injuries, while the woman was unconscious and succumbed to her injuries.

Meanwhile, efforts were underway to rescue anyone trapped under the debris. Providing details about the incident, the fire officials said that they received the information at around 3:10 pm on Friday. Five fire engines were dispatched to the scene immediately.

Upon hearing the loud sound of the collapsing house, people from nearby areas rushed to the scene and began clearing the debris. Within a short time, a crowd of hundreds of people gathered in the street.

The police reached the site, evacuated people, and cordoned off the area. Firefighters, along with NDRF teams, ambulances, and civic agency teams, arrived at the scene and immediately began clearing the debris.

Fire Department ADO Santosh said, "The fire department team rescued a 12-year-old girl and a woman from the debris. The girl suffered minor injuries, while the woman is unconscious. Both were immediately admitted to a nearby hospital. Removal work is ongoing, as there may be other people trapped under the debris."
