Delhi Traffic Advisory: The Delhi Police has issued a traffic advisory owing to the festive shopping in major marketplaces like Chandini Chowk, Daryaganj and nearby areas of Old Delhi. The advisory will be in place from 2 PM to 10 PM from October 18 to October 21. The advisory was posted on the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of Delhi Police. 

Authorities are taking measures to prevent traffic gridlocks in these busy market areas, aiming to ensure smooth traffic flow and a safer shopping experience for Diwali shoppers.

Delhi Traffic Advisory: Diversions Announced On These Routes

  • No buses/commercial vehicles will be allowed on Netaji Subhash Marg. Traffic will be diverted at T-Point. 

  • Traffic diversions are also in place on Chhatta Rail, Shanti Van Chowk, Delhi Gate & GPO Chowk.

  • The movement of e-rickshaws/autos/cycle rickshaws is restricted past Chhatta Rail Chowk.

  • Public Advisory Issued By Delhi Police

    The Delhi Police has issued the following public advisory during the festive season:

    • The police have asked the pedestrians to use footpaths & crossings while roaming.

    • For travelling, the police have advised the public to prefer public transport.

    • For ease of convenience, the people are asked to follow the directives of the Delhi Police.

    • Be patient and plan travel well in advance to avoid delays.

    Delhi Traffic Advisory: Designated Parking Only

    To manage the large crowd, parking has been restricted near public roads. Only the following designated places can be used for parking:

    • Parade Ground

    • ASI Parking

    • Dangal Maidan

    • Omaxe Mall

    Restrictions Around JLN Stadium On October 19

    Traffic restrictions will continue near the JLN Stadium for the second day from 4 PM to 10 PM owing to the concert of American rapper Travis Scott. The alternate routes and restrictions are:

    - Traffic from BP Marg will be diverted towards Meharchand Market

    - Vehicles from Lodhi Road will not be allowed beyond the Pragati Vihar red light.

    - Vehicles from 5th Avenue Road will have to take a U-turn near Dhobi Ghat

    - Those coming from INA and Thyagraj Stadium will not be allowed to take the JLN Service Road near Gate No. 5.

    - No vehicle movement will be allowed from 4th Avenue and Gurjar Chowk towards Barapullah and JLN Service Road during the concert hours.

    - Left turns towards the SCOPE Complex from Lala Lajpat Rai Marg and Jangpura Metro T-point will also be restricted, and vehicles will be directed straight towards Lodhi Flyover.

    - Heavy vehicles will not be permitted between JLN Stadium Red Light and B P Marg from 4 pm to 11 pm on both days.
