Delhi Traffic On August 15: The Delhi traffic police has issued a comprehensive traffic advisory ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's address to the nation from the Red Fort in New Delhi on August 15 on the occasion of the 79th Independence Day celebrations. 

The traffic police have released a list of closed routes, diverted roads and other restrictions, such as the timing when the particular road will remain closed and the entry of heavy vehicles.

Delhi Traffic Advisory On August 15; Restriction Around Red Fort

The following roads will be closed for general traffic from 4 am to 10 am on August 15 and only labelled vehicles will be permitted entry on these roads.

Netaji Subhash Marg from Delhi Gate to C. Hexagon.

• SP Mukherjee Marg from HC Sen Marg to Yamuna Bazar Chowk.

• Chandni Chowk Road from Fountain Chowk to Red Fort.

• Nishad Raj Marg from Ring Road to Netaji Subhash Marg.

• Esplanade Road and its Link Road to Netaji Subhash Marg.

• Ring Road from Rajghat to ISBT.

Avoid THESE Routes If Without Parking Labels

In its advisory, the Delhi traffic police has requested that vehicles which do not have parking labels avoid following routes-

  1. C-Hexagon, 2.India Gate 3. Copernicus Marg 4. Mandi House 5. Sikandra Road W Point 6. A Point Tilak Marg 7. Mathura Road 8. BSZ Marg 9. Netaji Subhash Marg 10. J.L. Nehru Marg 11. Ring Road between Nizzamuddin Khatta and ISBT Kashmiri Gate 12. Outer Ring Road from Nizzamuddin Khatta and ISBT Kashmiri Gate via Salimgarh bypass.

Delhi Traffic Advisory: Alternate Routes To Access North-South Part Of The City

The Delhi Traffic police has also given a complete list of alternative options for commuters and vehicles to opt for in case to access the north-south portion of the city- 

Alternative Routes Option-1: Aurobindo Marg - Safdarjang Road - Kamal Ataturk Marg - Kautilya Marg - S Marg -11 Murti - Mother Teresa Crescent - Park Street - Mandir Marg - Panchkuian Road - Rani Jhansi Road and reach their destinations in North Delhi and vice-versa.

Alternative Routes Option -2:  Reach Connaught Place - Minto Road - Bhavbhuti Marg - Ajmeri Gate -Shradhanand Marg - Lahori Gate Chowk - Naya Bazar - Peeli Kothi - SP Mukherjee Marg to ODRS and reach their destination in North Delhi and vice versa.

Alternative Routes Options-3:Reach Nizamuddin Bridge to cross Yamuna - Pushta Road-GT road and cross Yuddhisthar Setu to ISBT and reach their destination in North Delhi and vice versa.

Delhi Traffic Advisory: Here’s Alternate Options To Reach East-West Delhi

Alternate Routes Option-1: NH-24 (NH-9)- Nizamuddin Khatta- Barapula Road- under AIIMS Flyover- Ring Road.

Alternate Routes Option-2: DND- Barapula Road further as per 1 above OR via Ashram on Ring Road & proceed accordingly.

Alternate Routes Option-3: NH-24 - (NH-9)- Nizamuddin Khatta- Ring Road- Bhairon Road - Mathura Road- Subrahmanyam Bharti Marg-Rajesh Pilot Marg- Prithviraj Road-Safdarjung Ataturk Marg-Panchsheel Marg-SP Marg/Ridge Road accordingly and vice-versa.

Alternate Routes Option-4: Vikas Marg- IP Marg- DDU Marg- Minto Road then either via Connaught Place or Ajmeri Gate- DBG and proceed further.

Alternate Routes Option-5: Pusta Road (Shastri Park)- GT Road- Yudhisther Setu- ISBT Kashmiri Gate, accordingly via Ring Road or Rani Jhansi Road.

Alternate Routes Option-6: DND - NH24 (NH9) - Yudhisther Setu - Signature Bridge - Wazirabad Bridge

Alternate Routes Option-7: Old Iron Bridge and Geeta Colony Bridge towards Shanti Van will be closed.

Delhi Traffic Advisory: Commercial, Interstate Buses Restricted On THESE Routes

  1. Goods vehicles will not be permitted between Nizamuddin Khatta and Wazirabad Bridge from midnight of August 14 to 11:00 am on August 15.

  2. Interstate Buses will not be allowed between Maharana Pratap ISBT and Sarai Kale Khan ISBT from 12:00 midnight of August 14 to 11:00 AM on August 15.
