Delhi Traffic Alert: Ahead of the Janmashtami procession, the Delhi traffic police has issued a fresh traffic advisory for the commuters. In its advisory, the authority has suggested the travelers to avoid certain routes, adding that over 3,000 devotees are likely to participate in the procession. The police stated that the procession will be held today for seven hours between 5 PM and 12 AM.

Procession To Pass Through These Regions

As per the advisory, the procession will begin at PS Sabzi Mandi and pass through several regions including, Malkaganj Chowk, Roshanara Road, Kohlapur Road, Sparks Mall, Satyawati Marg, Shakti Nagar Chowk, GT Karnal Road, Ghanta Ghar Chowk before returning to PS Sabzi Mandi. The authority stated that these regions are expected to witness heavy congestion in the evening hours due to the presence of thousands of devotees.

A heavy traffic congestion is likely on Roshanara Road, Kohlapur Road, Prof ND Kapoor Marg, Maharaja Agrasen Marg, Satyawati Marg, and GT Karnal Road after 5.30 pm. The traffic police stated that the traffic may be diverted from other sites, including Malkaganj Chowk, Sparks Mall, R/A PS Roop Nagar, and Shakti Nagar Chowk.

The traffic police has advised the commuters to avoid the above mentioned routes during the peak hours and plan their travel accordingly to avoid the congestion and delays.

Delhi Traffic Police Advisory:

- Prefer public transport to avoid traffic congestion
- Avoid roadside parking as it may obstruct smooth flow of traffic
- Follow the instructions of traffic personnel deployed at the site
- Plan your journey in advance and travel on the suggested routes
- Emergency vehicles will be given priority
- The residents should inform Delhi Police on dial number 112 if they experience any suspicious activity
- The devotees have been advised to maximise the use of public transportation to avoid the rush, especially in the peak hours
