Mahatma Gandhi Ring Road: The Delhi government has started a big plan to fix the Mahatma Gandhi Ring Road. This 55-km road often has heavy traffic. The Public Works Department (PWD) has hired AECOM India Pvt. Ltd to make a full project report (DPR). This report will show how to improve the road and reduce jams.

Work To Take Place In Six Phases

The work will be done in six parts. It will focus on the main crossings to better connect north, south, and central Delhi. PWD minister Parvesh Verma said the plan will update the road using smart data and care for the environment.

When Will DPR Complete

The DPR will be ready in 24 weeks. It will cover full checks on traffic, effects on nature, and road strength.

Why Government Wants To Redevelop Mahatma Gandhi Ring Road

The Mahatma Gandhi Ring Road was originally planned to ensure easy and uninterrupted traffic flow, but it has become heavily jammed because of fast city growth and a sharp increase in the number of vehicles on the road.

This upgrade project is focused on clearing traffic bottlenecks at important junctions, speeding up the movement of vehicles, and lowering both air pollution and noise levels. To support eco-friendly city transportation, new raised roadways will be built directly above the current road surface.

Six Main Sections Of Project

From Azadpur Flyover to Hanuman Temple (ISBT) – 9.5 km

From Chandgi Ram Akhara to Majnu Ka Tilla – 2.5 km

From Hanuman Temple (ISBT) to DND Flyover – 11.5 km

From DND Flyover to Moti Bagh Metro Station – 10.5 km

From Moti Bagh Metro Station to Rajouri Garden – 10 km

From Rajouri Garden to Pacific Mall in Pitampura, and then back to Azadpur Flyover – 13.5 km

Minister Verma stated, “This initiative represents a firm commitment to developing a well-linked and highly functional capital city, where all residents enjoy the advantages of improved infrastructure and hassle-free journeys. We are shaping a more intelligent Delhi that places emphasis on durable and forward-thinking transportation networks.

Tomorrow’s Travel Needs

As soon as the Detailed Project Report receives final approval, it will become the core blueprint for actual construction activities on site. AECOM will handle the creation of detailed 3D visualisations, engineering blueprints, and accurate budget calculations. Once completed, the revamped Mahatma Gandhi Ring Road is projected to shorten journey durations considerably at vital locations, including Hanuman Temple, the Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT), and Moti Bagh.
