Delhi News: Traffic congestion around Savitri Cinema and Kalkaji is expected to ease soon with the construction of two new flyovers on the Outer Ring Road. Under this ambitious plan, two new flyovers will be built near Savitri Cinema and Kalkaji Mandir at a cost of Rs 412 crore. The Public Works Department (PWD) has initiated soil testing and is awaiting approval from the Union Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs.
Proposed earlier in 2015, the project faced delays due to funding issues and land acquisition challenges. With a positive nod from the Delhi government and preliminary work underway, the construction is expected to begin soon.
Two New Flyovers Near Savitri Cinema And Kalkaji
- Savitri Cinema Flyover: Currently, there is a single flyover for vehicular movement from Modi Mill and IIT Delhi. Spanning over 1.5 kilometres, the flyover lacks a corresponding flyover from IIT Delhi to Modi Mill, leading to traffic congestion. Under this project, a new flyover will be constructed from IIT Delhi to Modi Mill.
- Kalkaji Mandir Flyover: Similarly, there is a single flyover for traffic heading towards Nehru Place from Modi Mill. Commuters coming from Nehru Place to Modi Mill have to heavy congestion, particularly during peak hours. Under this new project, a new flyover will be constructed from Nehru Place to Modi Mill to ease traffic woes.
New Flyover To Reduce Traffic Congestion In THESE Areas
The upcoming flyovers near Savitri Cinema and Kalkaji will be connected to the existing flyover on the railway line near Modi Mill. This integration will streamline traffic flow and reduce congestion at several locations, including Chittaranjan Park, Greater Kailash, Chirag Delhi, Kalkaji and Nehru Place.
