Delhi Weather: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for Delhi, warning residents to expect rain, gusty winds, lightning and possible thunderstorms in several parts of the city. The alert is in place for Wednesday, as unsettled weather conditions continue across the national capital.

According to the IMD, light to moderate showers are expected in areas such as Safdarjung, Lodi Road, RK Puram, Vasant Vihar, Defence Colony, Vasant Kunj, Hauz Khas, Malviya Nagar, Mehrauli, Tughlakabad, Chhattarpur, IGNOU, Aya Nagar, Deramandi and neighbouring parts of the NCR. Winds may reach speeds between 30 and 40 kilometres per hour.

Delhi Temperature

Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 34.9 degrees Celsius on Tuesday, which was 2.3 degrees below the seasonal average. The minimum temperature was 29.6 degrees Celsius, 1.7 degrees above normal. Humidity levels remained high, ranging from 88 per cent in the morning to 74 per cent in the evening.

Looking ahead, the IMD has predicted generally cloudy skies and moderate rainfall for Thursday. Temperatures are expected to stay between 27 and 34 degrees Celsius.

Meanwhile, the city’s air quality was categorised as “moderate” on Tuesday. The Air Quality Index (AQI) stood at 132 at 4 pm, according to data from the Central Pollution Control Board (CPCB). As per CPCB guidelines, AQI levels between 101 and 200 are considered moderate, while 201 to 300 is classified as poor.

June 26: Similar weather with light to moderate showers and gusty winds

June 27: Cloudy sky with very light to light rain and thunderstorms

June 28-29: Light to moderate rain with possible lightning

June 30 - July 1: Light rain with cloudy sky and thunderstorms expected

Authorities advise residents to stay alert and avoid low-lying waterlogged areas.
