Delhi Weather Today: According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) residents of Delhi are likely to witness a rainy Monday, which is expected to lower temperatures as well. The weather body has issued a yellow alert for today, predicting light to moderate rainfall or thunderstorms with a generally cloudy sky. Over the past couple of days, the maximum temperature has been steadily rising from 28.8 degrees Celsius on Thursday to 36.3 degrees Celsius on Sunday, two notches above normal (34.5), because of very little or no rainfall.

As per the Met department, there was no special weather phenomenon observed in the capital on Sunday. The relative humidity oscillated between 60 per cent and 84 per cent on Sunday. The AQI reported 99, which is in the ‘satisfactory’ category on Sunday, as per data from the Central Pollution Control Board.
Delhi Weekly Forecast
Going by the IMD’s seven-day forecast, temperatures are expected to drop gradually over the week. The maximum temperature may fall to 33 degrees Celsius and the minimum temperature around 25 degrees Celsius by the end of the week.
Meanwhile, for September, the Met Department has predicted above-normal rainfall activity over most parts of India. Northwest India received the second-highest rainfall for August since 2001, according to IMD data between 1901 and 2024.
South India Weather Update
Telangana and Andhra Pradesh witnessed torrestial rains on Sunday, leading to the death of several people in rain-related incidents. The downpour inundated several areas, disrupting road and railway traffic. In both states, rivers have swelled up and national and state disaster response forces (NDRF and SDRF) evacuated thousands of people to relief camps.
The weather body has warned that more rains are likely in several districts of the two states.
Telangana Red Alert Issued For THESE Districts
The weather department has issued a red alert for very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall in several districts, including Adilabad, Nizamabad, Rajanna Sircilla, Yadadri Bhuvangiri, Vikarabad, Sangareddy, Kamareddy, and Mahabubnagar. This alert is in effect until 8:30 am on September 2.
