Delhi Weather: The national capital has been witnessing fluctuating weather conditions over the past few days, with temperatures rising sharply before dipping suddenly. According to the IMD, intense heatwave conditions are expected to persist over the next four days.
On Thursday, Delhi recorded a maximum temperature of 40.6 degrees Celsius, which was 1.1 degrees above normal and the highest recorded so far this May. The minimum temperature settled at 23.4 degrees Celsius.
According to the weather department, severe heatwave conditions are likely to continue over the coming days. The maximum temperature may climb to 43-44 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature is expected to remain around 28-29 degrees Celsius. On Friday, the sky is likely to remain partly cloudy, with the maximum temperature expected to hover around 41 degrees Celsius.

NDMA Issues Alert
Meanwhile, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued an important weather alert. Over the next three hours, several parts of Delhi are likely to experience moderate thunderstorms accompanied by lightning, strong winds ranging between 40-60 kmph, and moderate rainfall.
The alert is particularly crucial for areas where humidity levels have increased due to the prevailing heat. While gusty winds and rainfall may bring temporary relief from the scorching temperatures, the risk of thunderstorms and lightning strikes remains high.
The weather department has advised residents to avoid venturing outdoors unnecessarily, especially near elevated areas, trees, and electric poles. Farmers engaged in agricultural activities and people working outdoors have also been urged to remain cautious. Delhi residents are likely to experience humid conditions along with sudden weather changes over the next few days.
