Delhi Rains: Heavy rains lashed parts of Delhi-NCR including Gurugram on Tuesday afternoon bringing down temperature and humidity. The city has been placed on a yellow alert by the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The weather body has stated that several states are likely to witness light to heavy rainfall for the next few days. It has also forecast moderate rain in Gurugram, Noida, Ghaziabad, and Faridabad till August 8.
As per the weather department, heavy rain is expected in parts of multiple states, including Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Jharkhand, and West Bengal. Along with rain, these states are set to experience thunderstorms, gusty winds, and lightning.
Traffic Snarls Hit Delhi-Chandigarh National Highway
The heavy rain on Tuesday afternoon completely disrupted the traffic system on the Delhi-Chandigarh National Highway. Heavy waterlogging on the highway near the new bus stand resulted in a 5 km long jam.

India Weather Forecast
As per the IMD, the western districts of Uttar Pradesh, including Muzaffarnagar, Meerut, and Baghpat, are likely to experience rain at least till August 7. Apart from this, there is a rain alert in eastern parts of the state until August 8. The rain is likely to be accompanied by heavy surface winds and lightning, likely to cause damage to the infrastructure and crops.
The weather department stated that heavy rain is expected in Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, and Uttarakhand from August 4 to 7. It further stated that thunderstorms, lightning, and winds with speeds of up to 30-40 kmph are expected in these regions. The tourists have been advised to follow the guidelines and plan their travel accordingly to avoid the inconveniences.
