Delhi Weather Today: After a fresh spell of rainfall yesterday, Delhi witnessed another rainy day on Monday. Showers lashed Rajouri Garden, Subhash Nagar, Hari Nagar and West Delhi in the national capital bringing respite after battling days of deadly heatwave. According to the India Meteorological Department (IMD), Delhi is likely to witness a cloudy sky with very light rainfall accompanied by gusty winds throughout the day.
The minimum temperature on Monday morning was 31.6 degrees Celsius, four notches above the season's average. The maximum temperature is expected to be 39 degrees Celsius. The relative humidity at 8.30 am stood at 70 per cent.
Amid these extreme weather patterns, the IMD scientist has suggested that the monsoon is expected to set in around 30 June in Delhi.
Monsoon Progression In India
The IMD has predicted thunderstorms with rain on June 25, 27, and 28 in the national capital and a partly cloudy sky with the possibility of the development of thunder lightning on June 26. The weather department added that rain or thundershowers are expected on June 29 and 30.
As the southwest monsoon continues to gain strength, IMD has issued a warning for the upcoming days. According to their latest forecast, nine states across the country could witness heavy to very heavy rainfall over the next three days, until June 27.
The weather officials have predicted that Goa, parts of Maharashtra and Karnataka will be particularly hard-hit, with the potential for extremely heavy downpours. Additionally, Gujarat can expect heavy rainfall on June 23 and 24, while the ghat regions of Tamil Nadu are set to receive heavy showers on June 23. Kerala and Mahe will also be affected, with heavy rains till June 25.

Additionally, the IMD has forecasted fairly widespread to widespread rainfall, accompanied by thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds, in Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha, and Chhattisgarh over the next three days. West Bengal, Sikkim and Uttar Pradesh are also expected to experience light to moderate rainfall with similar weather patterns during this period.
However, heatwave conditions are likely to continue in isolated pockets of Punjab, Haryana, and West Uttar Pradesh till June 25, and then abate thereafter, the IMD said.
