Delhi Weather Forecast: A thick layer of fog blanketed Delhi on Sunday as the city endured a cold spell, with the minimum temperature recorded at 12 degrees Celsius, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD). The IMD has also warned of a wet spell accompanied by thunderstorms and light or moderate rain later in the day.

On Saturday, light rain brought the temperature down to 7.7 degrees Celsius in the national capital, as per IMD data. The rainfall helped improve Delhi’s air quality to the 'poor' category on Sunday morning, offering relief from the dense fog that had persisted for several days. Saturday saw Delhi's maximum temperature at 17 degrees Celsius, three degrees below the season's average.

Delhi AQI Today

Delhi's Air Quality Index (AQI), which ranged from 'severe' to 'very poor' in recent days, improved to the 'poor' category on Sunday morning. According to the Centre’s Sameer app, Delhi's overall AQI at 5 am on Sunday stood at 285. An AQI of 201-300 is categorized as 'poor,' while readings above 300 indicate 'very poor' or 'severe' conditions.

Thick fog reduced visibility near landmarks like India Gate, although no flight diversions or cancellations were reported at Indira Gandhi International Airport. However, several trains were delayed due to the weather.

Amid the harsh conditions, night shelters in Safdarjung provided relief to those in need. Local resident Vegpal Singh highlighted that shelters were offering two meals a day, proper bedding and blankets. "If any medical attention is required, we take them to AIIMS hospital nearby," Singh added.

While flights remained unaffected, foggy conditions caused delays in train schedules, impacting commuters across the National Capital Region. The IMD forecasts continued wet and foggy conditions in the coming days.
