The Indian subcontinent is witnessing a surge in temperature and several parts of the country are already grappling with heatwave. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned of heatwaves in several states. The weather agency predicts a rise in Delhi's temperature to around 40 degrees Celsius in the coming days, despite no heatwave conditions anticipated. Kuldeep Srivastava, head of the Regional Meteorological Centre in Delhi, stated that while heatwave conditions are not expected, temperatures are set to soar over the next three to four days.
"There are no heatwave conditions expected in the upcoming days, but Delhi's temperature will reach 40 degrees Celsius in the next three to four days," Kuldeep Srivastava, scientist and head of the Regional Meteorological Centre in Delhi, told news agency PTI.

Delhi Weather Update: IMD Forecast
On Monday, Delhi experienced a maximum temperature of 37.6 degrees Celsius, a normal reading for this time of year, according to the IMD. The agency forecasts clear skies and strong winds on Tuesday, with temperatures likely to settle around 38 and 22 degrees Celsius for maximum and minimum, respectively.
While no heatwave conditions are forecasted for at least seven days, Delhi residents may not experience relief from the high temperatures through rainfall for at least three days. Despite the absence of heatwave conditions, the capital is expected to endure sweltering heat in the upcoming days.
In 2023, Delhi experienced its highest maximum temperature of 40.6 degrees Celsius on April 14, while in 2022, it soared to 43.5 degrees Celsius. IMD had earlier forecasted a temperature rise in the capital this month, with temperatures expected to climb by 1-2 degrees Celsius over the week.
