Delhi Traffic: The closure of Bhai Veer Singh Marg in Delhi's Gol Market for six months and the implementation of the wrong route diversion plan has increased the problems for school children, office goers and local shopkeepers manifold, jagran.com reported. The local RWA and market association officials alleged that there is a huge traffic jam in the area in the morning and afternoon. School students and office goers get stuck in the jam for hours. Local people have also expressed their displeasure over the situation and have written a letter to the traffic police and NDMC parking system manager demanding immediate solution to the problem.

Pritam Dhariwal, President of Nagrik Kalyan Samiti Confederation of RWA, said that the traffic coming from Kalibari Marg has been diverted in the wrong direction by the traffic police and NDMC. Due to this, there is a huge traffic jam on Peshwa Road, School Lane, Doctor Lane and other nearby routes.

School Lane includes about 15 government schools of NDMC and more than seven private schools. Expressing concern over the safety of children, the local RWA, market association and parents have demanded a complete ban on the entry of vehicles from morning to afternoon on the surrounding routes including school lane for children and pedestrians. Apart from this, the officials have also given suggestions regarding the correct route diversion plan.

Dhariwal said that the empty lane near the petrol pump on Bhai Veer Singh Marg can be used as an alternative parking space for essential vehicles. While the vehicles coming from Mandir Marg can also be diverted from this route and taken towards the parking. This will provide relief from traffic jams.
