Delhi-Dehradun Expressway: Distance-Based Rates Out Even As Karaunda Toll Plaza Remains Incomplete; Details

Delhi-Dehradun Expressway Update: The Karaunda interchange toll plaza on the Delhi-Dehradun Greenfield Highway (Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor) is not yet fully complete, but tax rates have been posted on the board. Work on the toll booth and railing is progressing rapidly. Officials hope to complete the work in four to five days. According to the list, vehicles like cars, jeeps, and vans will be charged a toll of Rs 100 from Karauda to Saharanpur's Rasulpur toll plaza, jagran.com reported.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the Delhi-Dehradun Economic Corridor in Saharanpur on April 14 after which vehicles began operating on the corridor. Now, preparations for toll collection are in the final stages. Currently, trial runs and final preparations are underway at the toll plaza.

Toll rates for various destinations from the Karaunda Toll Plaza have been released. For a single journey, the fee for cars, jeeps, and vans will be Rs 20 from Karaunda to Butrada, Rs 45 to Baraut, and Rs 90 to Katha (Bagpat). Toll collection will be entirely Fastag-based. The toll will be charged based on the distance travelled.

Discounts are also available for return journeys within 24 hours, depending on the type of vehicle. For example, from Karaunda to Butrada, the toll is Rs 20 for a single car journey and Rs 30 for a return journey. Buses and trucks will be charged Rs 145 for a single journey and Rs 220 for a return journey.

Authorities are currently conducting trial runs at the toll plazas, and the toll collection process is now likely to start from April 12 or 13. Toll rates for the stretch between Baghpat and Saharanpur have already been finalised, allowing commuters to easily check the amount they will need to pay for travel on the corridor.

Ankit Dhama, manager of the Katha toll plaza, said that the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) has released the toll tax rates for Phase 1, that is, from Baghpat to Saharanpur.
