Delhi-NCR woke up to lovely weather with an overcast sky on Monday morning, signaling the start of the new week. As the India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicts mostly overcast sky with mild to moderate rain or thunderstorms today, relief may be on the way. Additionally, the IMD has issued a "yellow alert" for the day.

On Sunday, there was little rain in certain parts of Delhi, but the humid and hot weather lingered, making life uncomfortable for the locals. A "yellow" alert from the India Meteorological Department (IMD) suggests that there might be further rain on Monday and Tuesday. IMD data indicates that at 8:30 AM on Sunday, Safdarjung, the city's base station, had recorded 7 mm of rainfall.

During the same period, there was 10.2 mm of rainfall in Lodhi Road and 8 mm in Ayanagar. Throughout the day, light rain poured in other sections of the city. Delhi University, Pitampura, Ridge, and Jafarpur recorded 4 mm, 1.5 mm, 1.2 mm, and 0.5 mm of rainfall, respectively, between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM. In contrast, Safdarjung had no rain between 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM, while Palam saw only a trace of rainfall.

The day was hot and humid, with a high of 36.6 degrees Celsius—two degrees more than usual. The humidity levels were uncomfortable for the residents, ranging from 70 percent to 98 percent.

The IMD no longer provides the heat index, or "feels-like" temperature, even though high temperatures and humidity have made outdoor circumstances difficult in July. The lowest recorded temperature was 26.4 degrees Celsius, which is one degree below average.

On Monday, the high is predicted to be 34 degrees Celsius, and on Tuesday, it can dip even lower to 33 degrees Celsius. Over the next two days, a minimum temperature of 26 to 27 degrees Celsius is anticipated.
