Diwali 2025 Live Update: India is celebrating the festival of lights, Diwali, with joy, devotion and grandeur. Symbolising the victory of light over darkness and good over evil, Diwali is also a time for reflection and gratitude. Devotees offered prayers to Goddess Lakshmi, seeking prosperity and happiness, while fireworks lit up the night skies across cities and towns.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended Diwali greetings to the nation, writing on X, “Heartfelt Diwali greetings to all fellow citizens. May this sacred festival of lights illuminate every individual’s life with happiness, prosperity and harmony—that is our sincere wish.”

PM Modi celebrated the festival with Navy personnel onboard the INS Vikrant off the coast of Goa and Karwar. He said, “I am fortunate that this time I am celebrating this holy festival of Diwali among all you brave soldiers of the Navy.” Sharing his experience, he added, “The night spent yesterday on INS Vikrant is hard to put into words... the immense energy and enthusiasm you all were filled with.”

President Droupadi Murmu also greeted citizens, urging them to celebrate responsibly and help those in need. Meanwhile, Ayodhya set a Guinness World Record by lighting over 26 lakh diyas along the Saryu River, showcasing unity, devotion and the festival’s enduring message of hope and harmony.
