Doda Encounter: A fresh encounter between terrorists and security forces has started in the Doda district of Jammu & Kashmir, the police informed on Wednesday evening. The gunfight was underway in the Gandoh area of the district. A policeman sustained injuries in the encounter, which was underway at Kota top in Gandoh, officials said. This is the fourth terror-related incident in J-K in over 72 hours. The fresh gunfight comes less than 24 hours after five Army personnel and a special police officer (SPO) were injured Tuesday night when terrorists opened fire at a joint check post in the upper reaches of Chattergalla on the Bhaderwah-Pathankot road in Doda.

Jammu Terror Incidents: Surge In Attacks Since June 9
The attack was followed by a gunfight at the scene. According to the police, a search operation was initiated following the exchange of fire in order to neutralise a group suspected to be comprising three to four terrorists hiding in Chattergala. The Jammu has witnessed a series of terror-related incidents since Sunday (June 9), when terrorists attacked a bus in Reasi, causing it to plunge into a gorge. The incident resulted in the deaths of at least 9 pilgrims and left 42 others injured.
Kathua Attack: Overview
Later, on Tuesday evening, around the same time as security forces and terrorists engaged in the gunfight in Chattergala, an encounter erupted in the Hira Nagar area of Doda's neighbouring Kathua district. The encounter in Kathua lasted till Wednesday afternoon, culminating with casualties on both sides. While a CRPF trooper lost his life in the anti-terror operation in Kathua, two terrorists were neutralised by the security forces.

The deceased CRPF personnel, who succumbed to injuries in a hospital, was identified as Constable Kabir Dass of the 121 Bn. The encounter and the subsequent search operation in Kathua followed an attack by terrorists on civilians in Saida Sukhal village in the border area of Hira Nagar. According to ADGP, Jammu Zone, Anand Jain, two terrorists entered the village and asked for water from some houses before opening fire on civilians.
