Dry Day On Independence Day:  With the festival season starting in August, the Excise Department of Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru has announced a list of dry days. Under the order, all liquor shops, bars, pubs, restaurants, hotels, and clubs will be closed on these days to mark the annual national and religious occasions in Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru. The police and excise department officials will ensure compliance with the order and punish the violators with strict penalties. However, there is no ban on stocking up on alcohol, and the residents are advised to plan their liquor purchase accordingly.

Delhi Dry Days: Liquor Shops Closed On August 15 And 16

The excise department, in line with Rule 52 of the Delhi Excise Rules, 2010, has imposed two back-to-back dry days in Delhi, ordering all the liquor shops to remain closed on August 15 and August 16 for Independence Day and Janmashtami. The restrictions will be imposed on a 24-hour basis.

Meanwhile, a ban on all liquor shops, bars, clubs, and hotels will be in place on October 2 to mark the birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. These restrictions by the excise department are in place to ensure law and order in the national capital on annual national and religious celebration days.

Bengaluru Dry Days: Liquor Shops To Remain Closed On THESE Dates

In another update, the Bengaluru Excise Department has announced a complete closure of all liquor shops for two consecutive days. Bengaluru is set to witness a dry weekend with a ban on liquor sales on August 15 and August 16 for Independence Day and Janmashtami.

On these two days, there will be a complete restriction on the sale of alcoholic beverages for 48 hours. The excise department has advised residents to stock up in advance. In addition to this, Bengaluru is expected to observe a dry day on August 27 to mark the occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Mumbai Dry Days: Liquor Shops To Remain Closed On August 15, 16 And 27

With the beginning of festival season in August, the Mumbai Excise Department has announced a list of dry days, announcing a complete ban on the sale of liquor through licensed vendors, restaurants and bars.

Under the order, restrictions are in place for all liquor shops on August 15, 16 and 27 to mark the annual national and religious occasions. All liquor shops, bars, pubs and clubs will remain closed on August 15 for Independence Day, August 16 for Janmashtami and August 27 for Ganesh Chaturthi.

In addition to this, a dry day will also be imposed on August 6 during the immersion period. The authorities may impose restrictions on liquor shops throughout the 10 days to mark the grand occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi. However, there is no ban on the consumption of alcoholic beverages, and residents can stock up in advance.
