A Durga Puja pandal in Kolkata’s Behala locality has used pieces of panipuri to decorate its walls, which is also attracting crowds across the city as the video of the event has gone viral on several social media platforms. However, the organisers are facing a problem as many visitors, especially children, are trying to take the panipuri pieces as souvenirs or even eat them.

The organisers have warned that the panipuri pieces are not edible and contain chemicals that can cause health issues. They have also requested the adults to keep an eye on their kids and prevent them from touching the pandal walls which are decorated

The pandal is organised by the Behala Noun Dal Durga Puja Committee, which is celebrating its 59th year of Puja this year. The concept of the pandal theme is made up by Ayan Saha, who is also the designer of it.

The organisers said that they wanted to create a unique and attractive pandal with panipuri, which is irresistible for Bengalis and popularly known as ‘Puchka’ in the state. Meanwhile, the organisers did not anticipate the curiosity and temptation of the visitors, who are flocking to see the panipuri pandal.

“Special chemicals are added to these decorative panipuri pieces to preserve their crunchy nature till the end of the puja, till the idol is immersed and the pandal is dismantled. So this chemical can lead to a number of stomach-related ailments in case anyone consumes even a piece of it,” one of the organising members said as quoted by news agency IANS.
