Delhi University Election Result: In a notable win for the National Students' Union of India (NSUI), the Congress-backed student party has returned to the Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections after a seven-year absence.
The NSUI secured two significant positions, with Rounak Khatri winning the presidency by defeating Rishabh Chaudhary from the RSS-affiliated Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) by over 1,300 votes. Khatri received a total of 20,207 votes while Chaudhary garnered 18,864 votes, according to PTI reports.
Despite the NSUI's victory in the presidential race, the ABVP maintained its influence by winning the vice-presidential role. Bhanu Pratap Singh, the ABVP candidate, received 24,166 votes, while NSUI's Yash Nandal obtained 15,404 votes. The ABVP also retained the secretary position, with Mitravinda Karanwal winning 16,703 votes against NSUI's Namrata Jeph Meena.
Following the results announcement, members of the Congress's student wing celebrated enthusiastically, chanting slogans and applauding their leaders. This victory marks a resurgence for the Congress party within Delhi's influential student community, which has been largely dominated by the ABVP for nearly a decade.

The DUSU serves as the representative body for students from the university's colleges, faculties and teaching departments. The term for DUSU runs from August 16 of one year to August 15 of the next.
The announcement of the DUSU results, originally scheduled for September 28, was delayed due to a Delhi High Court order. The court had mandated that defacement caused during the election campaign be addressed before results could be declared.
A total of 21 candidates contested for the four central panel positions, with eight vying for president, five for vice-president and four each for the roles of secretary and joint secretary.
