Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) president Ronak Khatri in a payback on Tuesday smeared cow dung on the office walls of Lakshmibai College principal Pratyush Vatsala. In a video, Ronak Khatri and a group of students can be seen confronting a faculty member inside the principal’s office, demanding accountability and questioning the lack of student consent to apply 'gobar' in the classroom. "No consent was taken from students for such an initiative. If you want to do research, do it at your home," Khatri said.

Earlier, Pratyush Vatsala was seen applying cow dung on the walls of a classroom, amid summer heat, calling it a ‘desi’ solution to heat-related complaints of students. The principal herself shared a series of videos on the college’s faculty WhatsApp group, showing the effort.

Taking to X after the incident, Khatri in a post on X said, "We have full faith that madam will now get the AC removed from her room and hand it over to students, and run the college in this modern and natural cool environment smeared with cow dung.”

The principal, responding to the criticism on April 13, defended the act as part of an ongoing faculty-led research project investigating indigenous and sustainable cooling methods. "It is under process. I will be able to share details of the full research after a week," she told news agency PTI, adding that her actions were being misinterpreted without context.
