Dwarka Expressway Update: The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) stated that the trial of the Dwarka Expressway tunnel and Airport tunnel will be conducted for 12 hours on Thursday. The authority stated that the vehicular movement on both the routes will be allowed from 8 AM to 8 PM, adding that the routes will be opened for the public permanently from next week. The authority had commenced the trial on both the routes last month and took several steps after receiving minor complaints from the experts and the commuters. It further stated that these projects are set to provide relief to the residents of several regions by significantly cutting the travel time and reducing the traffic congestion.

The authority further stated that the trials on these routes were conducted for a few days from 12 to 3 pm to deduce the possible concerns. It added that several safety deficiencies were found and later removed to provide convenience to the commuters. While providing details, the authority stated that rumble strips have been installed near all the turns and water is being sprinkled on the routes.

Apart from this, reflector tapes have also been installed on the railings to improve the travel experience. The NHAI further stated that the trial was conducted for 11 hours on Tuesday and Wednesday, and the authority decided to increase the hours after it did not receive any complaints. It further stated that the routes will be opened for the public permanently after conducting a 24-hour trial next week.

NHAI officials stated that the authority has not received any major complaints from the commuters. Dwarka Expressway has been constructed to reduce traffic pressure on Delhi-Gurugram Expressway. It has been divided into two parts, and the Gurugram part was inaugurated by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi last year.
