Eid-Ul-Fitr Date And Time In India: Saudi Arabia has announced that Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated on Sunday, March 30, after the crescent moon for the month of Shawwal 1446 AH was sighted in the Kingdom today. In India, where the moon was not visible, Eid is expected to be observed on Monday, March 31, marking the end of Ramadan. However, the final confirmation will depend on moon sightings in the country tomorrow.
Iran and Pakistan also did not witness the crescent moon on Saturday. These Asian countries are also expected to celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr 2025 on the same date as India, as the moon is expected to be visible in these countries on Sunday night.
How Is Eid-ul-Fitr Date Determined In India?
The celebration of Eid-ul-Fitr depends on the sighting of the new moon of the Islamic month of Shawwal. Ramadan lasts either 29 or 30 days, depending on moon visibility. This year, Ramadan in India is expected to end in 29 days, making Eid likely on Monday, March 31. However, if the moon is not sighted on Sunday, Eid will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 1.
Who Declares Eid-ul-Fitr Date In India?
The Ruet-e-Hilal Committee is responsible for officially announcing the Eid date based on moon-sighting reports from different regions. Religious authorities and committees of multiple regions and sects also contribute to the decision. Once the crescent moon of Shawwal is sighted and verified, the official declaration is made.
