Fact Check: As the Bihar Assembly elections approach, misinformation is rapidly spreading on social media. One such misleading claim involves a video showing a collapsed bridge, which is being widely circulated with the suggestion that it is a recent incident.

Vishvas News investigated this post and found it to be misleading. This video is of an incident that happened in Bihar in March 2024 when a portion of an under-construction bridge collapsed.

What is Going Viral

Facebook user Janchowk uploaded a video of a collapsed bridge on 28 July 2025 and wrote in the caption: "The bridge worth Rs 1200 crore being built on Kosi river between Supaul-Madhubani collapsed. Many workers buried under the debris, some injured and some were feared dead."

Investigation

To verify the authenticity of the video, we extracted several keyframes and conducted a Google Lens search. We found this video uploaded on many social media posts in March 2024.

Taking a cue from here, we did a keyword search about this. Multiple credible news outlets had reported on this incident that took place on March 22, 2024. We found many of these frames in a video news report on Bihar Tak's YouTube channel.

News18 Bihar-Jharkhand also carried similar visuals and reported the same event on March 22, 2024.

According to a Times Of India report dated March 22, 2024, "A labourer was killed while several others are feared trapped after portion of an under-construction bridge collapsed in Bihar's Supaul district on Friday morning.The 10.2km bridge over the Koshi river, linking Bheja in Madhubani with Bakaur in Supaul district, was being constructed by the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI)."

To confirm further, we contacted Arun Ashesh, a journalist of Dainik Jagran (Bihar), who verified that the viral video is from March 2024 incident.

Facebook user Janchowk, who shared the viral video with a false claim, has more than 30000 followers.

Conclusion: Vishvas News found in its investigation that the viral video showing a bridge collapse in Bihar is from an incident that occurred in March 2024 and is being falsely circulated as a recent event ahead of the elections.
