Jagran Correspondent, Faridabad | A 9-year-old boy fell into a rainwater-filled pit near Aashiyana Flats, Sector 65, in Faridabad, Haryana, on Friday. The child was rescued and taken to a hospital. According to cops, the child left home for school in the morning.

He arrived at school but did not stay there for the entire class. After bunking school, he slipped into the pit when he was returning home. Some people noticed him falling into the pit. Subsequently, he was rescued. Locals questioned civic authorities' apathy.

Three-Year-Old Girl Drowns In Rainwater In Ghaziabad

Another tragic incident happened in the neighbouring city, Ghaziabad, where a three-year-old girl died after drowning in the rainwater outside her house following heavy rain. The deceased's family said she slipped into the water accumulated following rains since the last two days in Vijay Nagar's Sarvodaya Nagar locality. The girl was taken to a nearby hospital, where the doctors declared her dead upon arrival.

"The roadside drain was full of water—it was overflowing. Suddenly, her foot slipped. She fell right there. She died instantly," said Sumit Kumar, father of the deceased.

Heavy Rain Inundates Delhi-NCR

Heavy rainfall disrupted normal life in Faridabad, Noida and Ghaziabad on Thursday, causing widespread waterlogging, traffic snarls and the collapse of a residential road that sent a parked car and a scooter plunging into a pit.

In one of the most serious rain-related incidents, a section of a road in Vasundhara Sector 13 in Ghaziabad caved in beside an under-construction basement after incessant rain, sending a parked car and a scooter into the pit. A nearby electricity pole also tilted into the crater. No one was injured, but both vehicles were extensively damaged.
