Festival Special Trains: Durga Puja is around the corner. Diwali and Chhath Puja are also a month away. With festivals knocking on the door, people living in big cities or far from their homes for studies or jobs are planning to visit their hometowns. Due to the rush, it becomes a problem to get a confirm ticket. In view of the same, the railway is running festival special trains.
Festivals Special Trains will run between Anandpur Terminal to Barauni and Hazrat Nizamuddin to Patna. Air-conditioned class coaches will be installed in both the special trains. A special train has also been announced to run from Sirhind to Saharsa. This will provide convenience to the passengers of the eastern direction.
According to the officials, there is more crowd on trains going to the east. Passengers are not getting confirmed tickets in regular trains. Many festival special trains have been run for the cities of Bihar. Running three more special trains will ease the troubles of those going home for the festival.
Speaking about the festival special trains, Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said, "This festive season, General Coach increased in 108 trains. 12,500 coaches sanctioned for Chhath puja and Diwali special trains. In 2024-25, a total of 5,975 trains have been notified till today. This will facilitate more than 1 crore passengers to go home during the puja rush. In 2023-24 a total of 4,429 special trains ran during the festive season."
Anand Vihar- Barauni Weekly Special
This festival special train will depart from Anand Vihar Terminal every Sunday from 6 October to 17 November at 9 am and will reach Barauni at 6.30 am the next day. On the return journey, it will depart from Barauni every Monday from 7 October to 18 November at 8 am and will reach Anand Vihar Terminal the next day at 10.10 am. On the way, it will stop at Aligarh, Tundla, Etawah, Kanpur Central, Lucknow, Sultanpur, Jaunpur, Ghazipur City, Ballia, Surmenpur, Chhapra and Hajipur.
Hazrat Nizamuddin-Patna Special
This festival special train will leave from Patna every Monday and Wednesday from 7 October to 27 November at 11.55 pm and will reach Patna the next day at 4.40 pm. On the return journey, it will leave from Hazrat Nizamuddin every Tuesday and Thursday from 8 October to 28 November at 6.05 pm and will reach Hazrat Nizamuddin the next day at 10.50 am. On the way, it will stop at Govindpuri, Prayagraj, Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyay Junction, Buxar, Ara and Danapur.
