Airlines Bomb Threats: Nearly 50 domestic and international flights operated by Indian carriers received bomb threats on Tuesday, according to sources cited by news agency PTI. Of the flights targeted by the fresh threats, 13 each reportedly belonged to Air India and IndiGo, more than 12 were of Akasa Air and 11 others were being operated by Vistara.

These took the number of flights that have received bomb threats since Monday night to around 80, as per the PTI report. In a span of a little more than a week, over 170 flights of Indian airlines have received bomb threats.

AIRLINE BOMB SCARE: OCTOBER 21 TALLY

On Monday (October 21) night, 10 flights each operated by IndiGo, Air India and Vistara received bomb threats. The security threats resulted in three Jeddah-bound IndiGo flights being diverted to airports in Saudi Arabia and Qatar.

"Upon landing, the aircraft was taken to the isolation bay and all customers were safely disembarked. At IndiGo, the safety and security of our customers and crew remains paramount in all facets of our operations. We worked closely with the relevant authorities, and standard operating procedures were followed. We sincerely regret any inconvenience this situation may have caused our customers and appreciate their understanding," IndiGo said in a statement released for one of its flights affected by Monday's threats.

Vistara also confirmed receiving security threats via social media and following protocol after that. "We confirm that a few of Vistara's flights operating on 21 October 2024 received security threats on social media. We immediately alerted the relevant authorities and are following all security procedures as directed by them. At Vistara, the safety and security of our customers, crew, and aircraft are of utmost importance," a spokesperson for the airline said.
