Air India has announced that it will resume flight operations to and from several key destinations including Jammu, Srinagar, Leh, Jodhpur, Amritsar, Bhuj, Jamnagar, Chandigarh, and Rajkot starting from 13 May.
Services on the Hindon–Mumbai route are set to recommence from 14 May, while all other domestic and international flights, including those from Amritsar, are expected to resume from 15 May, the airline confirmed.
This update follows the reopening of 32 airports that had been temporarily shut due to heightened tensions between India and Pakistan. These airports resumed operations on Monday.
“Attention passengers: in reference to the earlier notice regarding the temporary closure of 32 airports for civil aviation until 05:29 hrs on 15 May 2025 — these airports are now open for civil operations with immediate effect,” announced the Airports Authority of India (AAI) on Monday. Travellers are advised to check flight status directly with their respective airlines and stay updated via airline websites.

The airport closures were implemented as a precaution amid rising tensions and military activity following Operation Sindoor.
On 7 May, India launched Operation Sindoor, targeting nine terrorist camps across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), in retaliation for the deadly terror attack in Pahalgam on 22 April, which resulted in 26 fatalities.
In response, Pakistan carried out 15 coordinated attacks across northern and western India on the night of 8–9 May, deploying drones, cruise missiles, and ballistic missiles. Although India successfully intercepted and neutralised many of the threats, flight operations were suspended and airports closed as a safety measure.
With the situation now stabilised, authorities have decided to gradually restore air services.
