Forced To Drink Urine, Given Electric Shocks: Pune's Self-Styled Godman Arrested For Sexually Assaulting Woman For Six Years

The Pune Police have arrested a self-styled godman and seven of his associates, including six women, from a bungalow in Wagholi's Ubalenagar for sexually assaulting a woman. The accused has been identified as 59-year-old Radhamohan Mishra, who tricked the woman by making her believe that he was a divine incarnation.

Pune Police Commissioner (CP) Amitesh Kumar said that the 41-year-old victim, a resident of Sinhagad Road and employee of a big company in the city, had lodged a complaint with the police on Tuesday night, following which the Pune City Crime Branch team raided the bungalow and arrested Mishra.

Mishra belongs to Haryana but shifted to Pune 8 years ago. He was running an ashram from the bungalow. According to the complainant, Mishra and his associates convinced the woman and several other followers that he was an incarnation of God and forced her to drink his urine. She was also given electric shocks.

He allegedly used to assault her and physically abuse her under the pretext of testing her faith. He also convinced her family that she was dishonest and needed correction, which augmented her ordeal, according to a report by TOI.

During the six years of abuse, Mishra also made the complainant steal to enrich himself and his ashram. Police raided Mishra's ashram and seized a large quantity of incriminating material from an underground room. They found 12 laptops, 11 mobile phones, 19 hard drives, and numerous pen drives and cassettes.

Rs 6.5 lakh in cash and jewellery worth Rs 15 lakh were also recovered, along with a large stock of pharmaceuticals and narcotics, prompting police to intensify their investigation.

According to a TOI report, Mishra operated the ashram under the name of a "modern gurukul." The families were encouraged to send their children to the facility.

During the day, they used to attend schools and colleges, but during the night, they stayed at the facility where they used to suffer physical abuse.

The report stated that the complainant wanted to marry and move away, but Mishra himself arranged a marriage through a matrimonial website. He demanded private videos of the complainant and her husband, which he later used to blackmail her.

"He also demanded private videos of the woman and her husband. He used them to blackmail her. Eventually, he forced her to separate from her husband. The victim finally broke the CCTV cameras and escaped from the bungalow,” the police were quoted as saying in the report.
