Ganga Expressway Update: The upcoming Ganga Expressway is set to transform road travel in Uttar Pradesh. The 594-kilometer expressway, stretching from Meerut to Prayagraj, will pass through twelves districts, enhancing connectivity.
According to the latest update, the Ganga Expressway is in its final stage of construction and nearing completion. The UP Expressways Industrial Development Authority (UPEIDA) recorded an overall progress on the expressway at 96%. Once operational, commuters travelling from Western to Eastern Uttar Pradesh will have faster, safer and convenient route.
Travelling from Meerut to Prayagraj currently takes almost 12 hours, with commuters facing traffic congestion, jams, and poor road conditions. With the opening of the Ganga expressway, this travel time will be reduced to just six hours.

Ganga Expressway to pass through 12 districts
The six-lane Ganga Expressway starts from Bijoli village in Meerut and ends at JudapurDandu village in Prayagraj. It passes through Hapur, Bulandshahar, Amroha, Sambhal, Budaun, Shahjahanpur, Hardoi, Unnao, Rai Bareli, Pratapgarh districts. One of the important sections of this expressway is the Budaun stretch, which covers 92 km of the district.
A team of Dainik Jagran recently inspected the stretch and found everything to be fine. The speed limit for vehicles within the district will be 100 to 120 kilometers. Signage has been installed at various locations. CCTV cameras are also installed at every 1 km, which will monitor the speed of vehicles and the activities of passengers, ensuring their safety. The trial run will start soon and the stretch is expected to be open in April.
When will Ganga Expressway open?
Budaun District Magistrate Avanish Rai said, "Work on the Ganga Expressway is nearly complete. Any minor work remaining is being completed. There are no problems anywhere. There is no update yet on when it will begin operations." According to reports, the entire Ganga expressway is set to open for public use in the last week of March. However, the government has not yet announced an official date.
