The Gorakhpur-Panipat Expressway is set for a major expansion, with plans to push the corridor beyond Gorakhpur up to Kushinagar district and further link it with the upcoming Siliguri Expressway. Once this extension is completed, the overall length of the expressway network will stretch close to 750 kilometres, creating one of the longest road corridors in the region. The project will link 22 districts across Uttar Pradesh and Haryana, significantly strengthening transport connectivity and driving economic growth.

Officials have confirmed that work on the revised route alignment is moving swiftly under the supervision of the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). The final alignment and design framework are expected to be completed by next month. After the integration of both expressways, commuters will be able to travel on a continuous four-lane highway from Siliguri to Panipat.

Gorakhpur-Panipat Expressway Expansion 

Initially, the expressway was conceived only between Gorakhpur and Shamli. It was later extended to Panipat in Haryana, and now the route has been pushed further to Kushinagar to establish direct connectivity with the Siliguri corridor. Due to land availability issues near Jagdishpur Koni in Gorakhpur, authorities have decided to link the Panipat route near the villages of Khurhuriya and Balua.

Districts To Be Connected By Extended Gorakhpur-Panipat Expressway

From its new starting point in Kushinagar, the expressway will pass through Gorakhpur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Siddharthnagar, Balrampur, Shravasti, Bahraich, Lucknow, Sitapur, Hardoi, Shahjahanpur, Badaun, Rampur, Bareilly, Sambhal, Amroha, Meerut, Bijnor, Saharanpur, Muzaffarnagar and Shamli, before finally terminating at Panipat in Haryana.

Gorakhpur-Panipat Expressway Will Connect Villages In Kushinagar 

The villages that will fall under the scope of this project in Kushinagar include Rampur, Agya, Holiya, Rampur Mafi, Magdiha, Sinduriya Vishunpur, Ghoradeur, Khurhuriya, Balua, Turkdiha, Binduar, Sahjauli, Senduar, Mundera, Khottha, Sihuliya, Tikar, Chhapia, Belwa Khurd, Mahuawa, and Ahirauli.
