Greater Noida Traffic: The Greater Noida Authority has officially commenced work on a six-lane underpass at Gaur Chowk, aimed at easing the persistent traffic congestion in Greater Noida West. The project has been approved and is expected to take 18 months to complete. Once finished, the underpass will provide a smoother route for drivers travelling from Ghaziabad and Greater Noida East, significantly benefiting the thousands of commuters who navigate through this busy area daily.
Despite the future advantages, the construction is already causing disruptions. Currently, excavation work is underway, yet traffic around the Gol Chakkar remains heavily affected. Commuters are experiencing daily traffic jams, particularly during peak morning and evening hours when congestion builds up along the six-lane Parthala Flyover as it approaches Gaur Chowk.

Local residents have voiced their frustrations about the ongoing construction. They report difficulties in reaching Gaur Chowk, especially during busy evening hours, due to traffic snarls originating from every direction. Many have resorted to using service lanes to bypass the main road congestion, which only exacerbates the situation on those alternative routes.
The underpass project is budgeted at Rs 82 crore, spanning 720 metres in length and 30 metres in width, with additional ramps of 250 metres on either side. Rajesh Gautam, a senior manager at GNIDA, confirmed that the underpass will connect Greater Noida to Gaur City and link to the Delhi-Meerut Expressway. It is also set to intersect with the proposed Greater Noida West metro line.

Residents have long called for this underpass due to the traffic issues and pollution caused by the narrow roads. Although the project faced delays due to restrictions from the Supreme Court regarding air quality measures, construction has now begun. Authorities are optimistic that the underpass will be operational by late 2026, providing much-needed relief to the area's traffic challenges.
