Gujarat: One Dead, 16 Injured After Mandap Collapses During Ramdevpir Festival Celebration In Porbandar | VIDEO

Gujarat Festival Tragedy: At least one person was killed and 16 others injured when a mandap collapsed during the Ramdevpir festival in Porbandar, Gujarat on Wednesday. The police rush to the spot and initiated a probe into the matter.

 The religious celebration turned into tragedy as the big mandap structure in a tower shape, which stood with the help of ropes, fell on the gathering at the fair. The Festival was organised on the popular Chowpatty Ground. A mandap (canopy), approximately 50 to 55 feet tall, was erected in honour of Lord Ramdevpir near the iconic temple.

Gujarati Jagran reported that one person lost his life and 16 others received injuries after the mammoth structure fell on them. According to preliminary information, there was a sudden change in the atmosphere this morning.

Since a large number of visitors were present below the pavilion, many people were caught in its trap. As soon as the incident, local police and 108 ambulances Teams had reached the spot.  

The visuals from the spot showed that thousands of people turned up there to celebrate the festival. The incident was captured on the mobile camera. The video showed people trying to fix the mandap when it tilted, but during the effort, it collapsed on the crowd, leading to a major tragedy. The injured were taken to a local hospital for treatment.
