Gujarat Weather Update: Monsoon has wreaked havoc in Gujarat in the last 24 hours. Light to heavy rain has been recorded in 159 talukas of the state leading to waterlogging in multiple areas. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has warned that the rain will continue for the next few days. Heavy to very heavy rains are predicted in 16 districts of Saurashtra and South Gujarat on June 24. An orange alert has been issued for Amreli, Bhavnagar, Navsari and Valsad, while a yellow alert has been issued for Rajkot, Junagadh, Gir Somnath, Bharuch, Narmada, Surat, Tapi, Dang, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Panchmahal and Dahod.
According to the forecast of the Meteorological Department, there has been a change in the weather of Gujarat in the last few days. A current has come in the Arabian Sea leading to the development of a rain system due to which it has been raining in most parts of the state for the last 24 hours. People faced hardships due to heavy rain in Surat district yesterday.
On June 23, Saurashtra, South Surat and Central Surat received heavy rain. People have been put in great distress due to the rain. People going for business and employment have faced great inconvenience. Every taluka of Surat district has received more than 1 inch of rain.
Rainfall activity is likely to increase with heavy to very heavy rainfall at some places over northwest India from June 25. Heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue over many parts of central, east and northeast India during the next 7 days, while very heavy rainfall is likely at some places over west Madhya Pradesh on June 23 and 24.
