Madhya Pradesh: A shocking incident has surfaced from Gwalior's Thatipur area, where a dispute over Rs 250 nearly cost a young petrol seller his life. Three men brutally assaulted the victim, poured petrol over him, and set him ablaze. The young man, who suffered severe burns, was rushed to the hospital and is currently battling for his life.

Dispute Over Rs 250 Escalates Into Horrific Incident

According to a report by Jagran.com, Akash Sengar, a resident of the PHE Colony under the jurisdiction of Hajira police station, works at the auto stand at the Thatipur intersection and provides bottled petrol to drivers in need at night.

Around 12 AM on Tuesday, a man identified as Anul, alias Bali, arrived on a motorcycle with his friends, Sachin Gurjar and Arvind Chavai, to purchase fuel. Sengar provided them with a bottle of petrol, but when he demanded Rs 250 for it, a dispute erupted. The three men insisted on paying only Rs 100.

The dispute escalated quickly, and the three men began brutally assaulting Sengar. In a horrific turn of events, the attackers poured the bottle of petrol over the young vendor and threw a burning matchstick at him, instantly engulfing him in flames.

Hearing his cries, locals rushed to the scene and managed to extinguish the fire with water. He was later rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Victim In Critical Condition

Sengar has suffered extensive burns covering approximately 60 per cent of his body and is in critical condition. According to medical officials, any burn injuries exceeding 20 per cent are classified as 'serious'. Given that the victim sustained extensive burns across his body, his current condition remains 'critical'.

Two Arrested, Investigation Underway

Upon receiving information about the incident, the Thatipur police recorded the victim's statement and registered a case of attempted murder against the three men.

Acting swiftly, the police arrested two of the accused, Sachin Gurjar and Arvind Chavai, and subsequently paraded them in public. Police officials stated that a manhunt is underway and the third absconding accused, Anul, will be arrested soon.

"An attempt was made to burn the young man alive following a dispute over the price of petrol. The youth was doused with petrol and set on fire. Two of the accused have already been arrested," Vipendra Singh Chauhan, Station Officer, Thatipur, was quoted as saying.
