Haryana News: The investigation into the murder of Vidhi in Naultha has unexpectedly reopened an older case in Siwah village, with police now revisiting the death case of nine-year-old Jiya in 2025. What was believed to be an accident is now under suspicion after investigators reportedly learnt that Poonam, arrested in the Vidhi case, had allegedly drowned Jiya as well. Following this development, Jiya’s family has filed a formal complaint naming Poonam as the accused.
Earlier Suspicions Were Ignored
Jiya was found dead on August 19, 2025 in a water tank behind her home. Her family concluded she had fallen in by mistake. However, her uncle Surendra had doubted this from the beginning, saying Poonam had slept beside Jiya the night before. His suspicion was dismissed then, with Poonam’s mother accusing him of making false claims due to a family dispute.
Jiya’s mother Priya said she never imagined Poonam could harm a child, as she often played with neighbourhood children and appeared affectionate.
Parents Say Betrayal Has Deepened Their Loss
Jiya’s parents, Priya and Deepak, said the latest disclosure has intensified their grief. They said the pain of trusting someone who allegedly harmed their daughter is overwhelming. Priya said the family had always treated Poonam with love and could not believe she was capable of such an act.
Poonam Lived In Siwah For Months Before Incident
Family members said Poonam had been staying at her maternal home in Siwah for nearly five months at the time of Jiya’s death. They described her behaviour as normal and said she never revealed anything unusual.
With Jiya’s family now filing a complaint, police are preparing to re-examine the earlier inquiry and verify whether the two cases are connected.
