Haryana News: Haryana Police have arrested a YouTuber from Palwal district for allegedly passing sensitive information to Pakistan’s intelligence agency. The accused, identified as Wasim Akram of Kot village in Hathin subdivision, is suspected to have remained in touch with ISI handlers for nearly four years.
The India TV report cited officials as confirming that, the arrest was carried out by the Palwal Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) following leads from another accused, Taufiq of Alimev village, who was detained on September 26 on similar charges. Both men are now under investigation for suspected involvement in a wider espionage network.
How The link Was Formed
According to investigators, Akram came in contact with Pakistani officials while seeking a visa in 2021. During this process, he allegedly met a staff member named Danish at the Pakistani High Commission. Police claim Akram later stayed in communication with handlers using WhatsApp and other internet-based calling apps.
He is also accused of supplying a SIM card in Delhi, a move which investigators believe facilitated further communication with Pakistani contacts. Police suspect that through these links, Akram may have shared sensitive details with ISI operatives.
Evidence Under Scrutiny
During searches, police recovered Akram’s mobile phone containing WhatsApp chats linked to the case. Several deleted conversations are being retrieved with the help of forensic experts to determine the nature of the information passed on. Officials said that the evidence will play a key role in establishing the scope of the espionage.

Family Denies Charges
Akram’s family has rejected the allegations, stating he never travelled to Pakistan and was engaged only in assisting his father’s hospital and running a YouTube channel on Mewat’s history and culture. Police, however, maintain that both interrogation findings and digital records suggest strong cross-border links.
Superintendent of Police Varun Singla has directed the district crime branch to dig deeper into the case. The Intelligence Bureau is also working with the local police. Officials indicated that further arrests could follow as the probe expands.
Both Akram and Taufiq have been booked under sedition and national security laws and remain in police custody for questioning.
