Weather Update: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast widespread rainfall on Friday, October 3, across several regions of the country. According to the latest update, eastern, central, southern and northwestern parts of India will see unsettled weather over the next few days. Rain alerts have been issued in 17 states, including Jammu and Kashmir, with conditions likely to persist until October 8.
Weather Update: Nationwide Rain Impact
Continuous showers since Thursday have disrupted normal life in many states. While the rainfall has provided relief from heat and humidity, waterlogging has caused difficulties in both cities and villages. The IMD has warned that the wet spell could intensify in parts of the country today, bringing thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds.
Uttar Pradesh Weather Forecast
In Uttar Pradesh, several districts are expected to receive showers on Friday evening. The IMD said the weather will remain unsettled in eastern UP on October 4 as well. Authorities have reported casualties in recent days due to lightning strikes in the state. In Lucknow, conditions are likely to stay pleasant through the day before showers return later.
Himachal, Uttarakhand, Haryana Weather Forecast
The hill states of Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand will see light to moderate rainfall until October 4. Thunderstorms and lightning are also expected during this period. Rainfall may extend into parts of Punjab and isolated showers are also possible in Haryana and western Uttar Pradesh over the weekend.
Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Weather Forecast
The IMD said rain activity is likely to continue in Assam and Meghalaya on Friday. Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, Manipur and Tripura are also set to receive showers. These areas may experience thunderstorms and gusty winds at times.
Delhi-NCR Weather Forecast
Thursday’s rain brought relief from the humid heat in the national capital, but it also led to waterlogging in many areas. On Friday, more showers are likely across parts of Delhi and adjoining NCR cities such as Gurugram, Noida and Ghaziabad. Officials have said the western disturbance driving this weather system will continue to influence the region for another two days.
Extended Weather Outlook
The weather department has cautioned that the unsettled conditions will not clear immediately. Rain and thunderstorms are expected to continue in several regions until 8 October, with a yellow alert issued in parts of the country. The IMD has urged residents to remain alert during thunderstorms and to avoid open areas during lightning activity.
The current spell is linked to a western disturbance that has interacted with moisture-laden winds, leading to widespread rainfall. While the rains have lowered temperatures, they have also disrupted transport and daily routines across many states.
