Delhi-NCR Rains: Several parts of Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR) were severely affected by heavy rainfall on Friday morning. While the downpour brought relief from the prevailing humidity, it also led to widespread waterlogging and traffic congestion. The adverse weather conditions caused significant disruption to air travel, with several flights delayed.
The rains that began early Friday morning particularly impacted flight operations at Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport, primarily affecting departures. According to Jagran.com, approximately 250 flights were delayed.
Delays became more evident after 9 am, with the average delay for affected flights recorded at around 30 minutes.
Delhi-NCR Weather: Airlines Issue Travel Advisories
Due to bad weather, multiple airlines issued advisories urging passengers to check flight statuses and plan their travel accordingly. IndiGo, in a post on X, said, "The skies over Delhi are bringing in some light showers today. While there is no major impact on roads yet, travel may be slower in a few areas.

Similarly, Air India and SpiceJet also advised passengers to check flight statuses before heading to the airport. SpiceJet warned that flights to and from Delhi, as well as those connected through Delhi, might be impacted due to the bad weather.
Delhi-NCR Weather: Traffic Jams, Delayed Flights
Heavy traffic jams added to passengers’ woes, especially for those heading to the airport. Commuters from areas like Dhaula Kuan and RK Puram faced significant delays. Waterlogging was also reported between Dhaula Kuan and Ulaanbaatar Road in the morning hours, further exacerbating the traffic situation.
Ulaanbaatar Road saw severe congestion, leading many travelers to fear missing their flights. However, upon learning that flights were delayed, many passengers expressed relief.
Delhi Metro operations were also affected during peak office hours, particularly on the Yellow Line, with some stations experiencing service disruptions.
Delhi-NCR Weather: Check IMD Forecast
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Noida and Ghaziabad and an orange alert for parts of West Uttar Pradesh and Delhi. This indicates the likelihood of continued heavy rainfall across these regions.
