India-Nepal Border: The Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), India's border guarding force, has caught 60 inmates along the India-Nepal border after mass prison breaks were reported in Nepal amid the ongoing political unrest.
22 were caught along the India-Nepal border in Uttar Pradesh, 10 in Bihar, and three in West Bengal, officials confirmed to news agency ANI earlier on Thursday.
Meanwhile, around 12 to 13 inmates were injured on Thursday morning when the Nepalese Army opened fire to prevent a mass escape attempt at Ramechhap District Prison, officials told The Kathmandu Post.
India-Nepal Border Updates
-The Nepali prisoners were caught at different checkposts along the India-Nepal border.
-The number of prisoners who have escaped prisons in Nepal is on the rise. Authorities are ensuring strict vigil at all India-Nepal border entry points.
-SSB is on high alert to prevent fugitives from taking advantage of the porous India-Nepal border and entering India to evade law enforcement.
-Under the Ministry of Home Affairs, SSB protects the 1,751-km-long Indo-Nepal border. The border spans across Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, West Bengal, and Sikkim.
-SSB is carrying out identity checks with heightened patrolling to spot jail escapees.
-According to ANI, officials stated that multiple individuals did not have valid identification but were trying to cross into India.
-The apprehended individuals were handed over to the police. An investigation is underway and legal action is being initiated.

The students-driven Gen Z movement, which initially began as a response to a government ban on social media, has grown into a nationwide uprising against corruption, political stagnation, and alleged apathy by the ruling elite.
Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah Makes An Appeal
Kathmandu Mayor Balen Shah on Thursday urged the Gen Z protesters who rocked Nepal to remain "calm" and "not panic" till the next government forms after fresh elections. The remarks come as the Gen Z protesters have nearly finalised the decision to back former Chief Justice Sushila Karki as the country’s interim leader.
