HP Traffic Jams: Several videos emerged on Sunday showing lengthy traffic jams at several places in Himachal Pradesh as hoards of people travelled towards hill stations in the state ahead of Christmas and New Year's Eve. In videos published by news agency ANI, traffic can be seen snarling on roads in around popular winter holiday destinations like Shimla and Manali.

While the mercury has been predicted by the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to settle at a low of 7 degree Celsius in Shimla on Sunday, its weathermen have forecast a minimum temperature of -1 degree Celsius in Manali for the day. Manali will continue to experience sub-zero temperatures during the days leading up to at least December 30, the IMD's latest five-day forecast for the city suggests.
